Saints Row 4 - Opinion

Saints Row the third wasn't exactly a great game, missions were too repetitive ,boring and the presence of too many sexual jokes ruined it.

However in spite of this I decided to give to the sequel an opportunity.

With Saints Row 4, Volition changes again the former gangster game in a game based on superheroes.

This time the enemy is the alien Zinyak (hilarious character by the way) that wants to conquer Earth and imprisons the boss, now President of the United States, in a "simulation" a sort of matrix;

This beginning is the excuse for some interesting variations on the open world gameplay, for examples the superpowers.

Volition seems to have learned from their mistakes, therefore, the jokes that were in the third chapter have been replaced with references and parodies of matrix or mass effect, or for example, there are tributes to the old text adventures or the legendary Streets of Rage (incredibly well done).

Fun and humor are the strengths of SR4, but there are major flaws:

The graphic is one; is practically the same as the third chapter, they have been recycled many assets, in fact the title is born as a dlc in the previous chapter, but it was later decided to expand the idea and to make a full title, perhaps due to budget problems they have tried to save money on this front.

The other big problem, paradoxically, are the superpowers, in fact we have them since almost immediately (without upgrades of course) these make the game very very simple and you die very little, also the use of vehicles is useless because we could run at supersonic speed , making them useless.

The soundtrack is rather good, with radio stations that stand out among others as the usual klassic or mix and with songs ranging from what is love to Beethoven's symphony # 9.

In essence SR4 is a great game, a must for those who seek destruction and pure fun rather than plot ; is not without its flaws, but the fact that the game does not take itself seriously give us enough fun for what it offers.

There are a lot of dlc since it came out that add nothing but useless junk like clothes, only 2 dlc add new missions : Enter the Dominatrix (supposed to be the dlc that gave birth to the game ) and How the Saints saved christmas, both hilarious and entertaining.
